Atlas 5 ready to go. Taken from the edge of the BDA (Blast Damage Area). The blue light is the road block defining the BDA. Unfortunately, this launch was scrubbed due to a faulty telemetry transponder (one of nine redundant units). Bummer!
Atlas 5 ready to go. The four towers are for lightning protection (an unfortunate necessity on this night). The large building is home. They ended up rolling the rocket back into the building for Tropical Storm Isaac.
Atlas 5 as seen from across the lagoon. This is the closest over water view outside the BDA. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing this night, so no opportunity for a good reflection shot.
This is what scrubbed the launch the second night. Double bummer!
